Full of ads
This app has become a piece of junk. Full of ads and you can’t easily close them. It keeps asking you to subscribe their cloud service and it’s so annoying. Would give it zero star if I could

DO NOT BUY THIS CAMERA IF YOU DO NOT PAY FOR THE APP. SCREEN TIME IS SO SHORT BECAUSE THE AMOUNT OF ADS. THEY RECENTLY MADE IT TO WHERE YOU CANNOT EVEN VIEW SNAPSHOTS. THEY HAS ADS FOR BUTTONS, SCREENS, AND OPENING THE APP ITSELF. IN NO WAY IS THIS PRACTICAL FOR A SECURITY APP.
Horrible app
Warning!!! This app will spam you with nothing but adds before it will let you view your cam(s). You can expect a delay of 2 minutes before you’ll be able to live view your cam. To make it worse, you’ll get another add when switching from live to recorded video, and vice versa. Wish I knew this before I purchased these cams! I would give a negative review, if possible.

Ruined
It’s hard to describe what a nightmare this app is. Years ago I bought this camera and it worked fine. Now it’s got the ads of a match three game and demand you pay money for a service you used to have for free. What a shame, pathetic.
Ads Have Made the App Unusable
We’ve had these cameras for quite some time, and the app used to work great. After the latest update, the app is flooded with ads to the point that you can barely access your cameras. The ads are intrusive, difficult to dismiss, and make the app frustrating to use. Unfortunately, the cameras are no longer practical because of this, and we’ll be switching to a different brand.

Useless!
Having these cameras for over 4 years now and I’m done! Purchased for $60 each at the time, but was worth it since I could live view and would get a 30 second clip of any activity detected. No ads, SD card, or subscription required. Over the years features were taken away and put behind a subscription pay wall. Then came the ads and as annoying as they were I was able to find a work around and turned off auto updates to keep from further annoying “updates”. Even though I have updates turned off, the latest one has rendered the cameras useless. Activity alerts are notifying me HOURS after the event or not at all! I checked the recent feedback and there are at least two other reviews from this past Saturday with the same issue. Just to test the cameras, I put them on away mode and walked past three cameras several times with only ONE camera giving me a single alert! I walked past three cameras SEVERAL times and only ONE notification!What good is a security camera that doesn’t detect activity or if it does, delays the notification long after! Thankfully I’ve been slowly replacing these cameras and this has pushed me to finally get rid of Yi home entirely!

Delayed Alerts
Recently out of nowhere started getting delayed alerts. Getting alerts for events that happened 2-4 hours ago. Nothing seems to fix. Restarted my phone, logged out of the app, even restarted my router. Still getting delayed alerts. This app is getting worse and worse. If you are thinking about getting these cameras. Don’t! the app is going down hill!

Has been messed up
Have had this camera for years and it’s been super helpful however this past week I’m getting notifications and motion previews hours after the fact! Not normal for this app to be this behind, please fix it asap

Since the last update they have added a lot of ads and publications that do not allow you to see or search for a recording. The ads are very frequent I think it’s unfair

Forced ads?
I’ve had these cameras since 2018. There were never improvements and the app was so glitchy but it was free with the cameras. There have been no app improvements in many years yet it went from free, to charging us.
The constant forced ads everywhere on the app have gotten out of control and I mean constant everywhere you need to click you get an add! It flashes over and over again. How are there forced ads on a security device? If you have to pay, go somewhere else, the quality of this app is so far behind in tech and there’s such better options available now.

DONT BUY THIS CAMERA
App Has unavoidable ads that you cannot close to access camera. Camera app glitches out 40% of the time. They will also try and take multiple payments from your account without authorization. Overall the camera works great it’s the app and ads that you’d think a child developed it.
Cameras recording
I am getting a lot of false readings on my cameras. They seem to be picking up people and animals every ten minutes and when I review the film nothing appears, l am ready to go to another company.
Excessive & Bad Advertisements
The app is basically unusable given the ridiculous amount of Ads. Many features function for a matter of seconds before you are either shown another Ad or prompted to the Subscription Plan screen. Not only that, but the Ads aren’t even helpful or desirable Ads. They’re random and not well presented at all. I’d be surprised at any advertiser that’s actually getting an ROI or legitimate leads from this garbage Ad cycle.

Don’t upgrade or you’ll be sorry
I relied on YI Home for years because it was simple, reliable, and met my security needs. After the latest update, the app has become cluttered with intrusive ads and constant cloud subscription prompts that disrupt the user experience. What was once an excellent app is now frustrating to use. Unless this is reversed, I’ll be replacing my legacy YI cameras with a less intrusive alternative.
