What's New in YostNotes
2.8
September 13, 2026
Version 2.8 fixes the two things people told us got in the way — editing a transcript, and adding photos — makes a shared note read the way you would want it to, and upgrades the engine behind every transcript. Sharper Transcription Transcription now runs on AssemblyAI's newest and most accurate model. It should show up most where transcripts usually slip: accents, technical vocabulary, and people talking over each other. Nothing changes in how you record, and notes you have already made keep the transcript they have. A Transcript You Can Actually Edit Fixing a line used to mean a long press on a menu that often did not respond, especially while audio was playing. Now a long press opens the line for editing straight away, the speaker's name is its own tappable chip, and the playback bar steps out of the way while you type. Photos Where You Need Them Share or export a note and your photos now sit with the summary, right where the reader is looking, instead of stranded at the bottom past the whole transcript. Works in HTML, PDF, plain text, and public links, and the option to leave photos out of a public link still does exactly that. Check Speaker Names First Ask for a summary while your transcript still says "Speaker 1" and YostNotes offers to take you to the Transcript tab first. Real names make a noticeably sharper summary. Already named them? The summary just runs. Generate Summary The ••• menu item is now called Generate Summary, which is what it does. Fixed: Add Photos From Library Tapping ••• → Photos → Add photos from library did nothing at all. It now opens your photo library, and you can bring in up to 10 photos at once. Questions or feedback?
