What's New in Zima
2.0.26
August 7, 2026
A big accuracy and correctness pass — plus the app finally speaks your language on the screens you use most. - **The reticle simulator opens ready to use.** It starts on a real reticle — the ACOG, with actual artwork — instead of a placeholder, remembers the reticle you last used, and your pinned favorites are now yours to edit. Dual-magnification optics like the Elcan snap between their real powers instead of pretending to zoom smoothly. - **A rifle from the first second.** New installs start with a ready-to-shoot M4 profile, so the calculator solves and the simulator shows real holdovers before you've typed a thing. It's an ordinary profile — rename it, edit it, or delete it. - **Holds all the way to the muzzle.** Setting the distance to zero now shows the hold dead centre instead of making the aiming dot vanish. - **Clearer when something's missing.** No rifle selected? A small tap-to-choose note appears instead of a card blocking the reticle. A reticle that left the catalog now says exactly what's showing in its place. - **Tips you can silence in one tap.** Every help card now has "Hide all tips" — reversible in Settings. - **Much more of the app speaks your language.** The tab bar, the tool menus, every suite glossary, the onboarding tips, the upgrade screen and most of the calculator were showing English no matter what language you'd picked. They're translated now. Spanish (Spain) also gets the complete translation instead of a partial one. A handful of calculator input labels are still English — they're next. - **Shooting light is honest about what it tells you.** The screen now says what it actually computes — civil twilight times — with a reminder to check your own state's regulations, because legal shooting hours vary by state, species, and method. The underlying sunrise/sunset math is more accurate too, and remote coordinates now use the right time zone instead of your phone's. - **Fire and public lands is honest about what it knows.** Wildfire outlines are labelled as what they are — mapped incident areas, not legal boundaries — and the app no longer claims a restriction stage or tells you ammunition is permitted when it has no way to know. Always confirm with the managing agency. - **Right numbers on the right screens.** The compact shooting view now reads out your selected distance. The reticle simulator gives dial and click counts in your rifle's turret unit. The multi-rifle table carries your full wind, cant, and Coriolis setup through to every rifle. Truing calibrates against your actual rifle and load. - **Your data is safer.** A backup could overwrite a good iCloud copy with an empty one after a database problem. Saves that reported success before the write finished can no longer lose the record. Deleting one thing can no longer roll back unrelated edits elsewhere. - **Load and bullet data stays consistent.** Switching drag models now updates the ballistic coefficient with it, and picking a new bullet clears the previous one's length and BC instead of quietly keeping them. - **Training drill math corrected.** The lead-calculation drill's times of flight were about three times too short, so every answer it graded was wrong. - **Faster, steadier 3D trajectory**, and it can no longer show one rifle's data labelled as another's.

FAQ
What is Zima's primary function?
Zima is a comprehensive ballistic solver designed for precision shooters, hunters, and handloaders. It calculates trajectories, provides atmospheric corrections, and offers advanced features for long-range accuracy.
What are the main solver models available in Zima?
Zima offers four primary solver models: 3DOF, 4DOF, 6DOF, and Pejsa. These models provide different levels of complexity and accuracy for ballistic calculations.
How does Zima handle atmospheric corrections?
The app includes atmospheric corrections for G1/G7 drag models, ensuring accurate calculations under varying environmental conditions. Pro users gain access to even more advanced correction factors.
What features are included in the free version of Zima?
The free version of Zima provides a full ballistic calculator with trajectory tables, G1/G7 drag models, atmospheric corrections, up to 3 rifle profiles, and automatic iCloud Drive backup.
What does the Pro upgrade for Zima offer?
The one-time $19.99 Pro upgrade unlocks all four solver models, a 5,600+ bullet and cartridge database, 3D trajectory visualization, WEZ hit probability analysis, PDF range cards, and GPS target ranging.
Does Zima have ads?
No, Zima does not contain advertisements. The app is free to use with optional in-app purchases for its Pro features.
How often is Zima updated?
The latest version of Zima, 2.0.9, was released on June 17, 2026. The app is actively developed, with updates typically released to improve features and reliability.
What devices does Zima support?
Zima is available on Apple Watch and iPhone. Its features are optimized for these devices, including Home Screen widgets and Live Activities on compatible iPhones.
