Verdict
The clearest difference is ads: Kanopy at none against Fawesome's shown. Kanopy also leads on review sentiment (72% vs 43%) and ratings volume (153K vs 11K). Fawesome's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 2 weeks). On price, rating, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Fawesome against 4.8 for Kanopy. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Kanopy has 153K ratings behind it against 11K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 43% of Fawesome's written reviews are positive against 72% of Kanopy's.
Fawesome ships an update weekly, Kanopy every 2 weeks. Both last shipped on November 5, 2026.
