Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is rating: tiReader at 4.5 against FBReader's 3.7. tiReader also leads on review sentiment (67% vs 52%) and ratings volume (648 vs 128). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. FBReader sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and tiReader sells 4 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
