Verdict
The clearest difference is monetization model: Pensa Systems at free against Trax Retail's freemium. Pensa Systems also leads on review sentiment (50% vs 27%). Trax Retail's advantage is ratings volume (2.1K vs 12) and rating (4.3 vs 4.0). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Trax Retail holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Trax Retail has 2.1K ratings behind it against 12, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 27% of Trax Retail's written reviews are positive against 50% of Pensa Systems's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Trax Retail ships an update every 10 days, Pensa Systems every 3 weeks. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
