Verdict
The clearest difference is monetization model: 1iota at free against Met Opera's free with in-app purchases. 1iota also leads on ratings volume (22K vs 4.2K) and iOS requirement (9.3 vs 15.6). Met Opera's advantage is review sentiment (57% vs 38%). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for 1iota against 4.9 for Met Opera. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: 1iota has 22K ratings behind it against 4.2K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 38% of 1iota's written reviews are positive against 57% of Met Opera's.
1iota ships an update every 9 days, Met Opera fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 28, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
