Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Met Opera at 4.9 against Broadway Direct's 4.0. Met Opera also leads on ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (57% vs 25%). Broadway Direct's advantage is monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases). On price, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Met Opera holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Met Opera has 4.2K ratings behind it against 31, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 25% of Broadway Direct's written reviews are positive against 57% of Met Opera's.
Broadway Direct ships an update every 2 months, Met Opera fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
