Verdict
The clearest difference is ads: i Fratelli at none against Pie Tap's shown. i Fratelli also leads on monetization model (free vs ad-supported) and review sentiment (59% vs 50%). Pie Tap's advantage is rating (4.8 vs 4.5) and ratings volume (1.2K vs 272). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Pie Tap holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.5. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 272 and 1.2K respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 59% of i Fratelli's written reviews are positive against 50% of Pie Tap's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
i Fratelli ships an update every 7 months, Pie Tap every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and November 7, 2026 respectively.
