Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Active Week at none against Zones for Training's 1. Active Week also leads on review sentiment (92% vs 69%) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 17.6). Zones for Training's advantage is rating (4.8 vs 4.4) and ratings volume (19K vs 67). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Zones for Training sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Active Week asks for nothing beyond the download.
Zones for Training holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Zones for Training has 19K ratings behind it against 67, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 69% of Zones for Training's written reviews are positive against 92% of Active Week's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Zones for Training ships an update every 4 weeks, Active Week every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on September 24, 2026 and September 19, 2026 respectively.
