Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Cúla4 against 4.8 for Kanopy. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Kanopy has 153K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 100% of Cúla4's written reviews are positive against 72% of Kanopy's.
Cúla4 ships an update every 4 months, Kanopy every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 26, 2026 respectively.
