Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: MSCHF at 59% against Zumiez's 18%. MSCHF also leads on monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases) and iOS requirement (14.0 vs 16.0). Zumiez's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and rating (4.1 vs 3.6). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Zumiez holds the better App Store score, 4.1 against 3.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Zumiez has 5.2K ratings behind it against 409, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 18% of Zumiez's written reviews are positive against 59% of MSCHF's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Zumiez ships an update every 2 weeks, MSCHF every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 17, 2026 respectively.
