Verdict
The clearest difference is update cadence: OpenSEE at every 3 weeks against Optiview VMX's every 4 months. Optiview VMX's advantage is rating (2.9 vs 2.7) and iOS requirement (9.0 vs 11.0). On price, review sentiment, ratings volume and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Optiview VMX holds the better App Store score, 2.9 against 2.7. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 15 and 15 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 29% of Optiview VMX's written reviews are positive against 31% of OpenSEE's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Optiview VMX ships an update every 4 months, OpenSEE every 3 weeks. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
