Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Renogy at 3.8 against SWD Camera's 2.4. Renogy also leads on update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 3 months) and ratings volume (806 vs 122). SWD Camera's advantage is review sentiment (22% vs 11%) and iOS requirement (7.0 vs 13.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Renogy holds the better App Store score, 3.8 against 2.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Renogy has 806 ratings behind it against 122, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 22% of SWD Camera's written reviews are positive against 11% of Renogy's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
SWD Camera ships an update every 3 months, Renogy every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 12, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
