Verdict
The clearest difference is ads: Sofe Design Auctions at none against Heritage Auctions's shown. Sofe Design Auctions also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.6). Heritage Auctions's advantage is update cadence (every 6 weeks vs every 40 months) and ratings volume (5K vs 7). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Heritage Auctions holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Heritage Auctions has 5K ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two.
Heritage Auctions ships an update every 6 weeks, Sofe Design Auctions every 40 months. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 6, 2026 respectively.
