PlacePoint — Save places. Share where you are. Find your way back. PlacePoint is a simple location compass for the places that matter to you. Save a restaurant you discovered, your hotel while travelling, where you parked, a trailhead, a great pub, a wildlife camera in the woods, or anywhere else you may want to find again. When it’s time to return, PlacePoint shows you which direction to walk and how far away it is — without turning the experience into complicated turn-by-turn navigation. Two ways to save a PlacePoint Here’s My Point! is the fun, instant way to capture where you are. With virtually no effort, PlacePoint identifies your location, saves it and lets you share it with friends or family. Add a photo if you want, then use the familiar iPhone or iPad sharing experience to send it through Messages, WhatsApp, Mail and other apps. Save a Place is for when you want more control. Save your current position, search for a place, or choose an exact location on the map. Remember more than just the coordinates Attach a photo to a PlacePoint so you can remember what you’re looking for when you return. Add notes, give the place a meaningful name, and organize saved locations into Trips or Collections. PlacePoint automatically saves your changes, and your saved places and photos can sync through iCloud between your iPhone and iPad. Share a PlacePoint Send a saved location to someone with just a tap. PlacePoint can share the place name, useful details, photo and an Apple Maps link so the recipient can immediately see where it is. It’s great for messages like “This is the bar we’re at,” “Meet us here,” “This is where I parked,” or “Here’s the trailhead.” A compass that answers one simple question Which way do I walk to get back there? Select a saved PlacePoint and the compass shows your current heading, the direction toward your destination and the distance remaining. Turn until the destination marker is ahead of you and start walking. When you’re close enough, PlacePoint lets you know You’re Here. Made for exploring PlacePoint is useful when travelling, walking around an unfamiliar city, hiking, exploring a large event, remembering where you parked, or simply saving somewhere interesting that you want to revisit. Choose Standard, Satellite or Hybrid maps when you need more context. Use Save Starting Point / Backtrack when you want an easy way to return to where you began. And because PlacePoint works with geographic locations rather than just street addresses, it can also be useful for field work and off-road locations — survey points, equipment, wildlife cameras, bat houses, trail markers and other places that may not have an address at all. Simple by design PlacePoint isn’t trying to replace Apple Maps or give you driving directions. It’s designed to do something much simpler: Save a place. Know where it is. Find your way back. Save it. Share it. Wander. Find your way back. Made with love for Elly.
