Verdict

The call

Engage Calling and Microsoft Loop both sit at 4.4 stars, but that hides the real split: 73% of Engage Calling's written reviews are positive against 21% of Microsoft Loop's. Engage Calling also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 4) and iOS requirement (14.0 vs 18.0). Microsoft Loop's advantage is ratings volume (4.9K vs 19) and update cadence (monthly vs every 2 months). On price, rating, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Microsoft Loop holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Microsoft Loop has 4.9K ratings behind it against 19, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 73% of Engage Calling's written reviews are positive against 21% of Microsoft Loop's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Engage Calling ships an update every 2 months, Microsoft Loop monthly. The most recent releases landed on September 23, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
