Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Ooma Office at 4.9 against Engage Calling's 4.4. Ooma Office also leads on ratings volume (9.5K vs 19). Engage Calling's advantage is review sentiment (73% vs 50%) and iOS requirement (14.0 vs 17.0). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Ooma Office holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Ooma Office has 9.5K ratings behind it against 19, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of Ooma Office's written reviews are positive against 73% of Engage Calling's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Ooma Office ships an update every 6 weeks, Engage Calling every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
