Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is ads: WorkLog at none against Hours and Pay Tracker's shown. WorkLog also leads on review sentiment (76% vs 62%) and update cadence (monthly vs every 2 months). Hours and Pay Tracker's advantage is rating (4.6 vs 4.2) and ratings volume (177 vs 17). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Hours and Pay Tracker holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Hours and Pay Tracker has 177 ratings behind it against 17, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 76% of WorkLog's written reviews are positive against 62% of Hours and Pay Tracker's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

WorkLog ships an update monthly, Hours and Pay Tracker every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 8, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
