The clearest difference is rating: NEEWER Studio at 4.4 against amaran's 3.7. NEEWER Studio also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (592 vs 39). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
NEEWER Studio holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: NEEWER Studio has 592 ratings behind it against 39, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 31% of NEEWER Studio's written reviews are positive against 33% of amaran's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
NEEWER Studio ships an update fortnightly, amaran every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 11, 2026 respectively.
