Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: IDB Access at 100% against PayEm's 0%. PayEm's advantage is rating (3.9 vs 3.0) and update cadence (monthly vs every 13 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
PayEm holds the better App Store score, 3.9 against 3.0. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 2 and 8 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of IDB Access's written reviews are positive against 0% of PayEm's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
IDB Access ships an update every 13 months, PayEm monthly. The most recent releases landed on September 28, 2026 and September 21, 2026 respectively.
