Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: parkrun Official at 4.9 against PaceShouter's 1.0. parkrun Official also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 1) and ratings volume (1.3K vs 1). PaceShouter's advantage is update cadence (every 4 days vs every 2 weeks) and review sentiment (100% vs 86%). On price and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. PaceShouter sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. parkrun Official asks for nothing beyond the download.
parkrun Official holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 1.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: parkrun Official has 1.3K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 86% of parkrun Official's written reviews are positive against 100% of PaceShouter's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
parkrun Official ships an update every 2 weeks, PaceShouter every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on October 25, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
