Verdict
The clearest difference is ratings volume: NeoTaste at 65 against ASSENHEIMS's 1. NeoTaste also leads on update cadence (weekly vs every 3 weeks). ASSENHEIMS's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
ASSENHEIMS holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: NeoTaste has 65 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 41% of NeoTaste's written reviews are positive against 50% of ASSENHEIMS's.
NeoTaste ships an update weekly, ASSENHEIMS every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 8, 2026 respectively.
