Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Kemo at 4.6 against Hello Doorbell's 2.8. Kemo also leads on ratings volume (93K vs 13) and chart position (#49 vs unranked). Hello Doorbell's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 8 days vs every 3 weeks). On price, review sentiment, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Kemo sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month and Hello Doorbell sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Kemo holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 2.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Kemo has 93K ratings behind it against 13, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 17% of Kemo's written reviews are positive against 25% of Hello Doorbell's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Kemo ships an update every 3 weeks, Hello Doorbell every 8 days. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
