Verdict
The clearest difference is ratings volume: EMX Express at 282 against Mod Pods's 1. EMX Express also leads on review sentiment (70% vs 50%). Mod Pods's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.7). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Mod Pods holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: EMX Express has 282 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 70% of EMX Express's written reviews are positive against 50% of Mod Pods's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on November 7, 2026 and November 4, 2026 respectively.
