Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Passwordstate at 100% against Avast Password Manager's 53%. Passwordstate also leads on update cadence (every 2 months vs every 8 months). Avast Password Manager's advantage is rating (4.5 vs 3.3) and ratings volume (79 vs 4). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Avast Password Manager holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Avast Password Manager has 79 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Passwordstate's written reviews are positive against 53% of Avast Password Manager's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Passwordstate ships an update every 2 months, Avast Password Manager every 8 months. Both last shipped on October 25, 2026.
