Verdict
The clearest difference is monetization model: Monk Mode at free with in-app purchases against Stoic Conditioning's subscription. Monk Mode also leads on ratings volume (39 vs 9). Stoic Conditioning's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (93% vs 70%). On price, rating, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Stoic Conditioning sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $28.49 per month and Monk Mode sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Monk Mode holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.2. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 9 and 39 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 93% of Stoic Conditioning's written reviews are positive against 70% of Monk Mode's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Stoic Conditioning ships an update every 4 months, Monk Mode every 5 months. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
