Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: HWPO Training at 4.9 against TimerWOD's 4.3. HWPO Training also leads on ratings volume (3.3K vs 4) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). TimerWOD's advantage is ads (none vs shown). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
HWPO Training holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: HWPO Training has 3.3K ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 86% of TimerWOD's written reviews are positive against 78% of HWPO Training's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 23, 2026 respectively.
