Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Charge Smart MA at 4.7 against Lectron's 3.4. Charge Smart MA also leads on ratings volume (1K vs 9). Lectron's advantage is review sentiment (57% vs 37%) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 18.6). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Charge Smart MA holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Charge Smart MA has 1K ratings behind it against 9, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 37% of Charge Smart MA's written reviews are positive against 57% of Lectron's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Charge Smart MA ships an update every 5 weeks, Lectron every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
