Owesum is a tip calculator and bill splitter for dining out. Scan the receipt or type it in, see any service fee or included gratuity up front, tip on the pre-tax subtotal whenever the bill shows one, and split the total evenly across your party. No accounts. No sign-ups. Your receipt images aren't uploaded, and your bill data stays on your device — you decide if and when to share a summary. WHAT OWESUM DOES • Tip on the subtotal — when the bill provides a pre-tax subtotal, Owesum keeps tax out of the percentage base. If a scan finds only a charged amount, you confirm how to treat it before continuing. A heads-up flags a tip that looks unusually high. • Catch service fees and included tips — a bill that already carries a service fee or auto-gratuity starts at 0% extra tip, so you can see what's already included before deciding whether to add more. • Split the bill — divide the total evenly across your party, with each person's share rounded to the cent so the numbers always add up. • Scan the receipt — on-device scanning looks for the subtotal, tax, fees, and total and fills them in for your review. You confirm every number before anything is split. • Enter it your way — typing in the bill is fast and always works. • Keep a history — recent bills are saved on your device so you can look back anytime. • Share the breakdown — send a clean summary of who owes what through your phone's share sheet. WORKS WITHOUT INTERNET Poor reception at the table? Scan your receipt, review the numbers, calculate your tip, and split the bill offline. Receipt recognition and calculations run on your phone, with no internet connection required. BUILT FOR PRIVACY Receipt scanning uses on-device text recognition, so your images are never uploaded, and your bills, splits, and history are kept in local storage on your phone. There's no account to create and no name or email to provide. (Owesum is free, supported by ads, and uses limited analytics and crash reporting to improve — see our privacy policy for details.) Whether it's dinner for two or a group tab with a service fee on it, Owesum takes the math off your plate.
