The complete Berean Standard Bible — all 66 books, with the translation's own footnotes, cross-references, and section headings — installed with the application and read from a file on your device. IT MAKES NO NETWORK CONNECTION OF ANY KIND. No account, no sign-in, no server, no telemetry, nothing collected. Open it on a plane, in a basement, or with the wifi off, and it behaves exactly the same. Your highlights, notes and bookmarks stay on your device. MADE FOR READING A measured column, typeset in Charis SIL, with control over size, line spacing, column width, verse numbers, section headings and justification. Read mode sets the text alone; Study mode keeps the apparatus beside it. The words of Christ are set in blue, the way the typeset edition does it — and you can turn that off. AND FOR STUDY Search the whole text. A topical index of tens of thousands of entries. Highlight words rather than whole verses, in a palette of colors. Notes in the margin. Bookmarks gathered into groups you put in your own order — a sermon is a sequence, and a group keeps one. SYNC IS A FOLDER, NOT AN ACCOUNT Point Lantern at a folder you already sync however you like — iCloud Drive, Dropbox, a stick you carry. Each device writes one file of its own and reads the others'. It is off until you turn it on; there is still no server anywhere in it, and nothing leaves your machine except into the folder you chose. Export and import your notes as a single file. Importing merges rather than replaces, so importing the same file twice changes nothing. LICENSING The Scripture text is public domain. The Lantern apparatus is CC0. Charis SIL ships unmodified under the SIL Open Font License 1.1. The full rights page renders inside the app, offline, at Settings → About.
