Verdict
The clearest difference is update cadence: Pirr AI at every 5 days against Backyard.ai's every 2 months. Pirr AI also leads on ratings volume (257 vs 37). Backyard.ai's advantage is review sentiment (29% vs 17%). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Pirr AI sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $12.99 per month and Backyard.ai sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Pirr AI holds the better App Store score, 3.6 against 3.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Pirr AI has 257 ratings behind it against 37, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 17% of Pirr AI's written reviews are positive against 29% of Backyard.ai's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Pirr AI ships an update every 5 days, Backyard.ai every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 22, 2026 respectively.
