About

The Analogue

Features

The Analogue is a diagnostic app for the cars of the Analogue era, from 1987 to 2018, and the people who keep them on the road. Plug in an adapter, read what your car is telling you, and ask an engineer who knows your exact chassis. WHAT IT DOES Reads fault codes and explains each one for the module that reported it. Shows live data from the engine while you drive. A Vitality Score for your car, and dated scan history so you can see if a fault comes back. Engineers for every marque who know your chassis and engine, and answer in plain English. Learn guides written for your car, and the Paddock, where owners share drives and fixes. Read only on every connection. It never writes to your car. MARQUES AND YEARS BMW, 1987 to 2018, E and F chassis. The Motronic E24, E28, E30, E32 and the early E34 and E36 over ADS; E34, E36, E38, E39, E46, E53, Z3 and Z4 over K-line; the later E and F chassis over OBD-II and CAN, including the 1 Series coupe and convertible. Mercedes-Benz, 1987 to 2018. W124, W126, W201, W140 and early R129 pulse codes read with a guided walkthrough; W202 onwards over OBD-II, K-line and CAN. Porsche, 1987 to 2018. 944, 968, 964, 993 and 928 GT and GTS on the 19-pin socket, early; 996, 997, 991, 986, 987, 981, Cayenne, Panamera and Macan over OBD-II and CAN. Every 944 is listed, with what each year can and cannot report. Volkswagen, 1988 to 2018, and Audi, 1994 to 2018. K-line module reads with faults by module and measuring blocks, flash codes on older cars, OBD-II and CAN on later ones. Volvo, 1989 to 2014. 240, 740 and 940 blink codes with a guided walkthrough; 850 onwards over OBD-II. Aston Martin, 1997 to 2018. DB7 onwards over OBD-II and CAN. Every other make: engine codes and live data on any OBD-II car, 1996 to 2018 in the US and 2001 to 2018 in Europe. HOW IT CONNECTS OBD-II: any Bluetooth OBD-II adapter, including the OBDLink MX+ over Classic Bluetooth. CAN: the 2006 on cars, through the same adapter. ADS: the pre-1993 Motronic BMWs, fault memory and live values from the engine computer, through the MasterLink. K-line: BMW DS2 and KWP2000, VW and Audi KW1281, and the Porsche 19-pin bus, through the MasterLink, a hardware bridge I build. Proven on BMW; early on VW, Audi and Porsche. OBD-I: blink and flash codes on pre-1996 cars, read by hand with the app counting along and explaining each code. ENET over WiFi: early support on F chassis BMWs, read only. The app tells you before you start exactly what it can read on your car, and what it cannot yet. Supported MFi accessory: OBDLink MX+, MFi Product Plan ID 221699-0001.
