Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: PilotLog at 64% against RB Pilot Logbook by CAE's 11%. PilotLog also leads on update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 2 months). RB Pilot Logbook by CAE's advantage is rating (3.4 vs 2.6) and monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription). On price, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. PilotLog sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and RB Pilot Logbook by CAE sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
RB Pilot Logbook by CAE holds the better App Store score, 3.4 against 2.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: RB Pilot Logbook by CAE has 45 ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 64% of PilotLog's written reviews are positive against 11% of RB Pilot Logbook by CAE's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
PilotLog ships an update every 2 weeks, RB Pilot Logbook by CAE every 2 months. Both last shipped on October 29, 2026.
