Verdict
KFOR and News 9 both sit at 4.6 stars, but that hides the real split: 42% of News 9's written reviews are positive against 23% of KFOR's. News 9 also leads on ratings volume (11K vs 1.3K). KFOR's advantage is update cadence (every 6 weeks vs every 3 months) and iOS requirement (15.1 vs 26.0). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for KFOR against 4.6 for News 9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: News 9 has 11K ratings behind it against 1.3K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 23% of KFOR's written reviews are positive against 42% of News 9's.
KFOR ships an update every 6 weeks, News 9 every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
