Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is rating: WordPress at 4.6 against Google Cloud's 3.4. WordPress also leads on ratings volume (22K vs 103). Google Cloud's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 3 weeks). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Written reviews point the same way: 37% of WordPress's written reviews are positive against 30% of Google Cloud's.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

WordPress ships an update every 3 weeks, Google Cloud weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 8, 2026 and October 6, 2026 respectively.
