Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: UseePlus at 2.4 against KVH TracVision HD7's 1.7. UseePlus also leads on update cadence (every 2 months vs every 44 months) and ratings volume (324 vs 6). KVH TracVision HD7's advantage is review sentiment (50% vs 25%) and iOS requirement (8.0 vs 11.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
UseePlus holds the better App Store score, 2.4 against 1.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: UseePlus has 324 ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of KVH TracVision HD7's written reviews are positive against 25% of UseePlus's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
KVH TracVision HD7 ships an update every 44 months, UseePlus every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
