Verdict
DroneMobile and Whip Rate both sit at 4.8 stars, but that hides the real split: 80% of Whip Rate's written reviews are positive against 38% of DroneMobile's. Whip Rate also leads on update cadence (every 9 days vs every 2 months). DroneMobile's advantage is ratings volume (28K vs 10) and device support (3 vs 1). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for DroneMobile against 4.7 for Whip Rate. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: DroneMobile has 28K ratings behind it against 10, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 38% of DroneMobile's written reviews are positive against 80% of Whip Rate's.
DroneMobile ships an update every 2 months, Whip Rate every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
