Linpack
This utility measures a system's floating-point computing power by solving dense linear equations. It reports results in millions of floating-point operations per second (MFLOP/s) and includes checks for solution accuracy and machine precision.
- Measures floating-point computing power
- Solves dense linear equations
- Reports MFLOP/s
- Checks solution accuracy
- Determines relative machine precision

Linpack Benchmark The LINPACK Benchmarks are a measure of a system's floating point computing power. They measure how fast a computer solves a dense N by N system of linear equations Ax = b, which is a common task in engineering. The solution is obtained by Gaussian elimination with partial pivoting, with 2/3·N3 + 2·N2 floating point operations. The result is reported in millions of floating point operations per second (MFLOP/s, sometimes simply called FLOPS). Results. Mflop/s: Millions of floating point operations per second. A floating point operation here is a floating point addition or a floating point multiplication with 64 bit operands. For this problem there are 2/3 n^3 + n^2 floating point operations. Time: The time in seconds to solve the problem, Ax=b. Norm Res: A check is made to show that the computed solution is correct. The test is based on || Ax - b || / ( || A || || x || eps) where eps is described below. The Norm Res should be about O(1) in size. If this quantity is much larger than 1, the solution is probably incorrect. Precision: The relative machine precision usually the smallest positive number such that fl( 1.0 - eps ) < 1.0, where fl denotes the computed value and eps is the relative machine precision.

Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Linpack at none against CPU Dasher Mobile Master Tools's 1. Linpack also leads on ads (none vs shown) and rating (5.0 vs 4.7). CPU Dasher Mobile Master Tools's advantage is update cadence (monthly vs every 8 months) and ratings volume (987 vs 5). On price, review sentiment and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. CPU Dasher Mobile Master Tools sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Linpack asks for nothing beyond the download.
Linpack holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: CPU Dasher Mobile Master Tools has 987 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 78% of Linpack's written reviews are positive against 85% of CPU Dasher Mobile Master Tools's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Linpack ships an update every 8 months, CPU Dasher Mobile Master Tools monthly. The most recent releases landed on August 28, 2026 and September 29, 2026 respectively.
