Verdict
The clearest difference is ads: InsTake at none against Instagram's shown. InsTake also leads on iOS requirement (9.0 vs 16.3). Instagram's advantage is ratings volume (30M vs 5.6K) and chart position (#3 vs unranked). On price, rating, review sentiment and update cadence there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Instagram sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $14.99 per month and InsTake sells 2 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Instagram against 4.6 for InsTake. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Instagram has 30M ratings behind it against 5.6K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 32% and 32% positive.
Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
