Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: ABC12 News at none against MLive.com's 18. ABC12 News also leads on rating (4.7 vs 4.4) and review sentiment (21% vs 12%). MLive.com's advantage is update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 4 months) and ratings volume (16K vs 1.3K). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.
