Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is rating: HamSphere 5.0 at 3.9 against Mumble's 3.1. HamSphere 5.0 also leads on update cadence (monthly vs every 4 months). Mumble's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 30) and review sentiment (67% vs 38%). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. HamSphere 5.0 sells 30 one-off in-app purchases. Mumble asks for nothing beyond the download.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

HamSphere 5.0 holds the better App Store score, 3.9 against 3.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Mumble has 64 ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 67% of Mumble's written reviews are positive against 38% of HamSphere 5.0's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Mumble ships an update every 4 months, HamSphere 5.0 monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
