Verdict
RA Camping and Campflare both sit at 4.8 stars, but that hides the real split: 77% of Campflare's written reviews are positive against 38% of RA Camping's. Campflare also leads on ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). RA Camping's advantage is ratings volume (44K vs 3.9K) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 15.0). On price, rating, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for RA Camping against 4.9 for Campflare. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: RA Camping has 44K ratings behind it against 3.9K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 38% of RA Camping's written reviews are positive against 77% of Campflare's.
RA Camping ships an update every 2 months, Campflare every 5 weeks. Both last shipped on November 3, 2026.
