Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is price: Half Marathon 13.1 Trainer at Free against Run Roster's $1.99. Half Marathon 13.1 Trainer also leads on ratings volume (5.6K vs 1) and device support (4 vs 2). Run Roster's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and rating (5.0 vs 4.7). On review sentiment, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Run Roster holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Half Marathon 13.1 Trainer has 5.6K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 56% of Half Marathon 13.1 Trainer's written reviews are positive against 50% of Run Roster's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and September 28, 2026 respectively.
