Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is rating: Woot at 4.8 against Nintendo Store's 3.6. Woot also leads on ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (96K vs 177). Nintendo Store's advantage is review sentiment (43% vs 28%) and chart position (#100 vs unranked). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Woot holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 3.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Woot has 96K ratings behind it against 177, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 28% of Woot's written reviews are positive against 43% of Nintendo Store's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Woot ships an update every 6 weeks, Nintendo Store every 2 months. Both last shipped on October 22, 2026.
