Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: SCS Pro at none against SecuritySpy's 1. SCS Pro also leads on rating (3.8 vs 3.5) and iOS requirement (9.0 vs 13.0). SecuritySpy's advantage is update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 7 months) and ratings volume (86 vs 14). On price, review sentiment, ads and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SecuritySpy sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. SCS Pro asks for nothing beyond the download.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

SCS Pro holds the better App Store score, 3.8 against 3.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SecuritySpy has 86 ratings behind it against 14, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of SCS Pro's written reviews are positive against 57% of SecuritySpy's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

SCS Pro ships an update every 7 months, SecuritySpy every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 3, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
