Verdict
Smith's and Dan's Supermarket both sit at 4.8 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of Dan's Supermarket's written reviews are positive against 17% of Smith's's. Dan's Supermarket also leads on ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Smith's's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (93K vs 531). On price, rating, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.
