Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: meinAVV at 4.1 against Deutschlandticket App's 2.1. Deutschlandticket App's advantage is review sentiment (55% vs 15%) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 4 months). On price, ratings volume, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
meinAVV holds the better App Store score, 4.1 against 2.1. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 13 and 11 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 55% of Deutschlandticket App's written reviews are positive against 15% of meinAVV's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Deutschlandticket App ships an update every 2 months, meinAVV every 4 months. Both last shipped on October 21, 2026.
