Inspired by paper planners, Finalist shows your calendar, tasks, notes, reminders and weather forecast in one beautiful timeline. It even pulls in your Journal Suggestions and Activity Rings to keep you inspired. Gorgeous themes make planning a joy, not a chore. Finalist is built for people who finish things, no complex workflows or productivity theater. NOTES, IN YOUR PLANNER Your planner remembers what you wrote. A dedicated Notes tab gives you notebooks, tags and search. Keep native notes that sync over iCloud, or connect a folder of plain markdown files, including your Obsidian vault, and edit them in place. Tasks inside your markdown files become real Finalist tasks: dated, tagged and checkable anywhere in the app. YOUR DAY, ON YOUR WRIST The Apple Watch app puts your whole day one glance away: events, tasks, reminders and habits in one scrollable view, topped by a Now card that always knows what matters next. Check off pinned lists from the wrist, grocery list included, and add tasks by keyboard, scribble or dictation. Complications and a Smart Stack widget round it out. (Requires watchOS 26.) DESIGN YOUR DAY Choose between two Daily designs: Daybook, the classic stacked layout, or Broadsheet, a newsprint-inspired look that shines on iPad and Mac. Rearrange sections with the layout editor and save your own presets. On the rebuilt Timeline, drag tasks onto the grid to sketch your day in pencil, then commit when it's real. "I've tried dozens of planning apps, this is the one that finally works." - Beta user "The integration of Reminders and Lists reduces the apps I need daily and makes planning actually fun." - Beta user Built with native Apple technologies: no accounts to create, syncs over iCloud, supports Family Sharing, and runs on iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Vision Pro and Mac. Full database backup, export and import via JSON and OPML. Finalist is a love letter to paper planners. Give it a try, it feels great :) Purchasing information To get the full functionality in Finalist you will need to either purchase a subscription or a one time In-App Purchase for Lifetime access. Quiltd is a shared home for the things a household has to keep track of together — the chores, the bills, the filter that needs changing, the policy that quietly expires in March. It is built for the people who live under one roof: a couple, a family, or up to six roommates. Not a project manager, not a corporate to-do list. One home, and the handful of things that go wrong when nobody is sure whose turn it was or who paid. A SUBSCRIPTION IS REQUIRED Quiltd is free for the first 14 days. After that, everything below needs a subscription: pay what you can, $1, $3, $6 or $10 a month, and one subscription covers your whole household. TAKE TURNS WITHOUT KEEPING SCORE Chores can alternate between you automatically. Whose turn it is this week is worked out from the calendar, not from a tally someone has to maintain, so nobody has to remember who did the bathroom last time. Tick something off on your phone and it disappears from theirs a second later. CHORES THAT RESET THEMSELVES Daily chores clear overnight, weekly ones on Monday morning, monthly ones on the first. Or give a weekly chore a day of its own, like the trash on Tuesdays, and it clears on that day instead: it keeps off Today until then, and stays there until somebody does it. You never reset a list. BILLS BEFORE THEY ARE LATE Every bill with its amount, its day of the month, and whether it is on autopay. Anything billed every six months or once a year waits until the month it is actually due instead of cluttering the list. The month view spreads them out, so a six-month payment shows its real monthly cost. REMINDERS THAT ARRIVE ON TIME Quiltd schedules reminders on your phone itself — bills three days before they are due and again on the day, upkeep when its interval comes round, renewals a month before they lapse. They work with no signal, and each person sets their own, so turning yours off does not change anything for anyone else. ROOMMATES WELCOME, AND NOBODY'S INCOME REQUIRED Choose Roommates and Quiltd starts with what you share: rent, utilities, the bathroom. It never asks about anyone's income. Give each bill an owner and split it Evenly, One pays or Custom; everyone sees their own share, and each person ticks off their own. It turns Paid once everyone has. THE THINGS YOU ONLY NEED TWICE A YEAR Upkeep that runs on intervals — the AC filter, the smoke detectors. Renewals that cost you if they lapse. Contacts for the leasing office and the after-hours maintenance line. The network name and where its password is kept. AND THE WEEK ITSELF Dinner for each night, a grocery list grouped by aisle, and a calendar you can export to Apple, Google or Outlook. QUILTD DOES NOT STORE YOUR PASSWORDS There is nowhere to type an account password or a Wi-Fi key. It records where each one lives, like your password manager, so whoever needs it knows where to look. A FACE ID LOCK, IF YOU WANT ONE Switch it on in Setup and Quiltd asks for Face ID, or Touch ID, whenever it has been closed for a minute or more, with your passcode as a fallback. Nothing about your face reaches Quiltd: your iPhone only tells it yes or no. WHAT IT DOES NOT DO No adverts. No analytics. No tracking of any kind. Nothing is sold, and nothing leaves your household. You can download everything you have entered as a single file whenever you like, leave a household without losing your account, and delete your account from inside the app in two taps. THE SUBSCRIPTION, PAY WHAT YOU CAN Quiltd needs a subscription once the 14-day free trial ends. Pick $1, $3, $6 or $10 a month, whichever feels right: every price opens all of Quiltd, and one covers everyone in your household. It renews monthly until you cancel, and you can change or cancel it any time in Settings on your iPhone. Setting up takes about a minute, with the common answers already filled in. The last step is an invite link for everyone else, with the code built in, and they choose their own name when they join.

Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is monetization model: Quiltd at free against Finalist's free with in-app purchases. Quiltd also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and update cadence (every 3 days vs every 10 days). Finalist's advantage is ratings volume (512 vs 1) and device support (5 vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

CostPrice · In-app purchases · Ads · Monetization

Both are free to download. Finalist sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days and Quiltd sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $1.00 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Quiltd holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Finalist has 512 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Finalist ships an update every 10 days, Quiltd every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
