Verdict
Met Opera and NYTIX both sit at 4.9 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of NYTIX's written reviews are positive against 57% of Met Opera's. Met Opera's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 2) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 6 months). On price, rating, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. NYTIX sells 2 one-off in-app purchases. Met Opera asks for nothing beyond the download.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for Met Opera against 5.0 for NYTIX. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Met Opera has 4.2K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 57% of Met Opera's written reviews are positive against 100% of NYTIX's.
Met Opera ships an update fortnightly, NYTIX every 6 months. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 10, 2026 respectively.
